react-native-fast-image Error while updating property 'source' of a view managed by: FastImageView

Android Feb 22, 2020 Viewed 2.6K Comments 0

react-native-fast-image FastImage is an Image replacement that solves these issues. FastImage is a wrapper around SDWebImage (iOS) and Glide (Android).

Question

If the source object passed to FastImage contains illegal uri:

{ uri: 'INVALID_URL' }

For example:

<FastImage source={{uri: "/logo.png"}} />

When running on Android, an exception will occur, but it is normal on iOS.

Solution

Before using FastImage, verify the uri. Check if it starts with http/https. If no, return null.

const normalisedSource = source && typeof source.uri === 'string' && (source.uri.split('https://')[1] || source.uri.split('http://')[1]) ? source : null;
<FastImage source={normalisedSource} />
